Alwadi Information

Tucked along the busy stretch of JFK Boulevard near Houston’s airport corridor, Alwadi feels like a welcome pause from the usual chain-heavy dining scene. The location at 15655 John F Kennedy Blvd makes it especially convenient for travelers and locals alike, and judging by the steady stream of customers during peak hours, it has built a solid reputation through word of mouth and consistent reviews.

Walking in, the atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and thoughtfully styled. It’s not overly flashy, but there’s a clear attention to detail in the décor-warm lighting, comfortable seating, and just enough character to make it feel inviting without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a relaxed meal rather than rush through it.

The menu leans heavily into Middle Eastern flavors, offering a range of dishes that feel both traditional and approachable. From grilled meats to fresh salads and dips, there’s a clear emphasis on bold seasoning and fresh ingredients. One standout is the mixed grill platter, which comes with a variety of perfectly cooked meats-juicy, well-marinated, and served with fluffy rice and warm bread. The hummus, often a good benchmark for this style of cuisine, is smooth and balanced, not overly garlicky but still rich enough to feel authentic.

Service here tends to be friendly and attentive without hovering. On a recent visit, staff were quick to offer recommendations and seemed genuinely knowledgeable about the menu, which always adds to the experience. Even during a busy dinner rush, the pacing of the meal felt well-managed, with dishes arriving in a steady flow rather than all at once or frustratingly delayed.

What really stands out from reading through other reviews and experiencing it firsthand is the consistency. Many diners mention returning specifically because the food tastes the same every time, which is no small feat in a competitive Houston dining scene. It’s not trying to reinvent anything, but instead focuses on doing familiar dishes really well.

There’s always a bit of variability depending on the time of day or how busy it gets-like slightly longer wait times during peak hours-but nothing that feels out of the ordinary for a popular spot. Overall, it delivers a reliable, satisfying dining experience that feels grounded in quality and care, making it an easy recommendation for anyone exploring this part of the city.

What People's Say About Place

Only rating a 4 out of 5 because the beef on the Shawarma sandwich was dry and a bit tough but the flavor of the sauce and the bread were good. Also he’s fries which were well seasoned and probably could use a good mixing after they seasoned them only because you have a TON of seasoning all in one spot. My husband ordered the Gyro Sandwich combo which was $15.75 for the combo which is just the sandwich, drink and fries. - for 2 people we paid $35 and some change for 2 combos. Super busy during lunchtime.

Gyro was pretty tasty. I would go at least 1 a month if a combo wasn't over $17.

Nice little Mediterranean place in a strip mall. It is very convenient since we stayed at the hotel next door. The food is decent and you can get in and out pretty quick. We liked the hummus because it's flavourful and very smooth.

This place was recommended by my son, we love Greek and halal. He told me the Gyros were really good and swarms. I've never eaten swarms. Well the place is a nice size plenty of seats. I went for lunch, ordered Tony's Gyro, basically the typical Gyro with feta cheese, Kalamata olives added on. This also came with fries and a drink, I paid about 16$ 18$ but it was made perfectly!! It was big and everything was hot and seasoned. The people working there was really nice. Best gyro ever. Close to the airport. If you love gyros, this is it.

The food was PHENOMENAL!! I went with two of my siblings and ordered beef, chicken shawarma and a gyros sandwich plate. The food was seasoned to perfection and the meats were so tender. The service, however, left something to be desired. The young lady did not take ny order correctly and when the order was clarified, she didn’t want to give me the difference.

Alwadi is a fantastic place to enjoy Mediterranean food, and I look forward to returning in the future. It is a straightforward restaurant that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. I ordered the gyro plate, which was very filling for one person. It came with gyro meat, French fries, pita, hummus, and a salad. The flavors and freshness were evident both in how the meal was presented and in how everything tasted. I would definitely recommend visiting Alwadi if you are in the mood for a satisfying Mediterranean meal.

Alwadi is hands down one of our favorite spots! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared — from the hummus and shawarma to the fresh-baked pita. The portions are generous and the prices are fair. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel right at home every time. Whether dining in or taking out, the quality is consistently excellent. Highly recommend Alwadi if you’re craving authentic Mediterranean food!

Ordered the gyro sandwich and Shawarma plate. They have great portions and was very delicious. Salsa picosa is really good. The establishment is also very cleanly. I wish there was a location south Houston.
